The city center is a 10 minute walk from the B&B, either along the road or down the 400 steps that pass through the Parco dell’Annunziata (Annunciation Park). By car, it is a 3 minute drive to the Torricella covered parking lot, which is very close to Piazza Arringo and charges only .60 euro an hour. Ascoli Piceno is surrounded by beautiful countryside and medieval villages. There are seasonal food festivals and ample options for excursions throughout the year. You can ski nearby at Montagna dei Fiori and Forca Canapine, swim in the nearby Castellano river or enjoy the wide sandy beaches of the Adriatic coast at Grottammare, San Sights in Ascoli Piceno Be sure to visit Piazza Arringo, the Cathedral and Baptistry, the Town Hall and its gallery of paintings, the Civic Archeological Museum, the Diocesan Museum, Piazza del Popolo with the Captain’s Palace, the Church of San Francesco and its cloisters and Caffè Meletti. The northwest of the city is also worth a visit, with its medieval streets, towers and buildings, Romanesque churches, city gates, the Solestà Roman bridge, and the new ceramics museum. Also notable are the Malatesta fortress with the Cecco bridge, the Palazzo Malaspina, the churches of San Gregorio and San Vittore and the ruins of the Roman walls. Cuisine Ascoli Piceno is justifiably famous for its stuffed olives but also offers other original and classic dishes in its numerous restaurants, trattorias and pizzerias in all prices ranges.
